Strategy Guide

I just got into this particular Starflight game and I'm enjoying it so far. I loved all of the original Starflight titles and I'm a huge Starflight fan. The combat in TLC is a way too difficult in my opinion but I manage it okay. My problem with the game is that the mission details are very vague and don't give you much to go on and I find myself stuck sometimes. I know that is part of the game as it draws from the classic games where you have to discover clues and such to fill in the gaps and that's part of the fun, BUT it would be nice to have a walkthrough or strategy guide for this game like the originals have on the starflt.com/tables site just in case you get stuck because I do enjoy the game and I eventually want to finish the story. I'm pretty sure some others may have been frustrated by this too. Is there a walkthrough or guide for TLC somewhere that I don't know about? The game is awesome so far but just a little help in that area would be nice to keep me from spinning my wheels and not being able to complete the game.

Go to:

In the download folder you will find a comprehensive game play manual.

There are also some helpful maps that you download and print.

Only three missions are meant to be "very vague" as they indicate that the game universe has completely changed and most if not all the races have new behaviors and dialogue. I tried to leave enough hints to guide the player on where to go next most of the time without being too hard, but if you find yourself stuck somewhere feel free to post a question here.

How would you suggest adjusting the combat? Fewer ships? Less damage? Easier to destroy? Other than military missions which are meant to be crazy, combat should not be required for anything other than the first few pirates...

The combat isn't necessarily broken, it's just more difficult that it has to be in terms of ship maneuvering. The fact that you're drifting all over the place really makes it hard for you to get a good bead on your opponents. I've gotten decent at the combat and I'm at the level now where I don't have to worry about getting blown away easily if at all by even large fleets, but it would be nice if the ship controlled like it does in interplanetary space when the strafe maneuvering is super responsive and you're not drifting around the screen and concentrating more on getting your ship under control than the enemies you're dealing with. Everything else is fine. I definitely don't want it to be easy, but full control of the ship would be nice. I suspect this was intentional since interplanetary space and hyperspace are 2 totally different atmospheres. But there is absolutely no room for error when you're fighting and the constant drifting makes it difficult to keep your angle when you have an enemy ship dead to rights.
